Forestry for Maine Birds

WHEN: Thursday September 20, 2018 12:00 pm - 16:00:00

WHERE: Maine Lake Science Center, 51 Willett Road, Bridgton ME

Join Maine Audubon, the Maine Forest Service and the Forest Stewards Guild for an afternoon of outdoor exploration and forest assessment at LEA’s Maine Lake Science Center, and the Highland Research Forest in Bridgton. Participants will pair traditional forest management techniques with habitat assessment for Maine’s migratory forest songbirds and discuss options for management in a woodlot that help to increase biodiversity and age-class structure. Forestry for Maine Birds is geared toward foresters, loggers, land owners, land trust folks, and anyone interested in learning about managing woodlands for species biodiversity. This workshop is FREE but space is limited, please register with alanna@leamaine.org.  We will meet at the Center at 11:45 and the workshop will begin at 12 pm; please bring a lunch and water and be prepared to be outside. Afterwards, from 5-6, please join us at Bear Bones Beer on Cottage Street in Bridgton to continue the discussion over a pint! We hope to see you in the woods!
